What BookraftAI does
A self-hosted AI book generator. Turn one brief into a formatted book with a cover and export KDP-spec PDFs: 23 book types, up to 200 text pages or 32 illustrated pages.
Two generation engines
Text books run 10, 30, 60, 100, or 200 pages. Image-page books run 5, 8, 16, 24, or 32 illustrated pages, each generated with the previous page as a reference so the style stays consistent.

Non-fiction, fiction, journals, planners, activity books, workbooks, coloring and puzzle books, cookbooks, poetry, picture books, comics, study guides and more, plus a free-form type.
Three coherence modes
For illustrated books: sequential story, thematic series, or individual pages, with text baked into the images or left wordless, and an optional style guide.
Live page streaming
Pages stream into the workshop as they are generated, so you can watch progress and stop a run partway through.
Page and block editing
Regenerate any page with a custom prompt, rewrite a single heading, paragraph, or image prompt, and insert, duplicate, or delete pages. Generated images are kept in a per-book asset library.
KDP-spec PDF export
Export a full book, interior only, or cover only, at 13 standard KDP trim sizes or custom dimensions, with margins, 0.125-inch bleed, backgrounds, and styled page numbers.
Credits and four payment gateways
Users buy credit bundles through Stripe, PayPal, Razorpay, or Dodo Payments. One credit covers one text page or image, and credits are refunded automatically if a generation fails.
Admin panel and your own keys
Manage users, credits, plans, gateways, purchases, and analytics. Users can add their own model keys, and stored keys and gateway secrets are encrypted at rest.

- The cover PDF is the front cover at trim size; the full print wrap with spine and back cover is assembled separately.
- Each book belongs to one user. There are no team workspaces, real-time collaboration, or public API.

Deploy the Next.js frontend and Express backend with MongoDB. The first account becomes the admin. Add an OpenRouter key, and optionally an OpenAI key.
